Penumbra: Requiem is an expansion pack to the game Penumbra: Black Plague by Frictional Games. Unlike Black Plague (and Penumbra: Overture), the focus is almost exclusively on puzzle solving.
The structure of the game is similar to Valve's Portal, in that the game contains a number of free-standing levels, where the goal is to find a set number of keys and reach the exit portal safely. There is also what seems to be a GLaDOS style computer guiding the player, providing most of the voice work for the game with a black humour mirroring the Portal character.
Contents
During one of the later levels, there is a sequence where the player must ascend a series of angled walkways while exploding barrels roll down towards them. The layout of this section is modeled after the first level of the original Donkey Kong arcade game. During this part of the level, the original Donkey Kong song can also be heard in the background. Also, at the bottom of the portals Phillip repeatedly uses, you can see the Portal logo.
Plot:
The game starts as the last one ends, with Phillip sending the 'kill them all' message. As soon as he finishes he is hit on the head by an unknown enemy. He awakens in some kind of tomb, consisting of a series of chambers. Items need to be collected in each chamber in order to move on to the next. In his journey he starts to see familiar places from other parts of the facility and receive communication from a person who later identifies himself as his former advisor, Red, from the first Penumbra game. A communication is received from a member of The Shelter advising that while the Tuurngait do not know that Phillip has sent a message to the outside world, The Shelter staff are aware that it has happened. This is contradictory as the member of The Shelter who delivers the message is in fact part of the Tuurngait hive mind.

Since this is an expansion pack, I assume I need to re-install Penumbra: Black Plague first, before I can install Requiem? If so, can you also plz confirm this expansion pack needs to be downloaded & installed in the same folder as Penumbra: Black Plague? Thanks!
You can just use the default location when you install this expansion pack, just make sure to install the Black plague first to be able to play the game...
