Here's my draft:

Hmmm a tough comp
(smiles attack) I get working on a draft in the morning, no idea what I'll use thoug, I take it that we can't just get a photo and use the art history brush
Read the rules tobyb
Yup though but creative one.
Ho maybe I did not specified but your final work may differ from you draft... XD
my draft:

whoa???? hey guys your too fast eh..... hmmmm gut some idea pooping know, he he he wanna try doodling to generate my rusty mind....am used to effects & stocks, drag & copy paste, enhance etc....this compi is different, your making the fun & creativity ruling on....keep up....

Same for me, I'm not really used to doing images like this, I'm glad I just got my touch screen or I wouldn't have a chance
whther we can use oil paints brush
or it is only sketch art on may be only
tablet pc?but my comp is desktop only.
i am not clear.for example a scenery
what kind of brushes i can use ?
only paint brushes? liker windows
simple paint brushes?
@ Soft Hunter
I don't understand your question...
Do you mean are we allowed to use tablet pc?
Yes you can.
I don't have one so I draw using my mouse. :)
You may use different brushes, but don't use a brush which will paint the whole character/or scene.
Here's my first try
after +/- 13 hours of fun.
Please give me comments/tips to ameliorate it.

yo bro....this is really my first in this digital paint i supposed? coz ive researched it to be updated & be exposed.....it really give me a sleepless night to think, where & what to start.....ha ha ha kinda flip out thinking what to work as my piece.....this is real fun.....keep up..

Start by making a draft. When making a draft you don't have to worry if this is going to turn out bad because it's a draft.
So when making a draft shoot out everything that comes to your mind.
Try to make a structure.
Then try to have a general idea of what you want to accomplish.
So it can be anything fantastic/fantasy related.
Ex. A battle between a dwarf and an orc.
thanX bro JM-DG, he he actually am thrilled & inspired by your work....its really my first to make this kind of piece.....and really turning me on little by little...in a day or two ill post my draft to start off....this ie really exciting.....asta POWER!!

and finally ive fin. my draft # 1.....heres it....
the GATE.....

I have/will '+' for you all
.
'JM-DG' love your concept, 'tobby' buddy nice imagination and 'akil' some kind
of modern art. All are beautiful. Thanks 'JM-DG' for starting this thread.
'+' for you all as always.
@abdit For akil_x it is still his draft.
.

Thank you for your comment and encouragements anyway
@akil_x I think I see where you want to go with this idea. Make this rock
Normally in a draft you avoid to put color.
ha ha ha your right bro jm -dg....it is still my draft not finish yet...its just a study he he he nothing special....i used a simple effects of color coz its dark background......still giving me head ache
...some adjustment & more time i guess
...but its rewarding, just have fun...the magic still taking its place....he he he he .....

I think I will post this, before I go mad from over working it.

Not quite how I envisioned it, but this is my first time at drawing from scratch, and I'm relativly pleased with the results, it looks nice at this size but loses it a higher zoom levels, it needs a bit more work, I'll keep practising and maybe come back to it, now, after a few days off, I need to switch back to photoserver, and give it some flash based T.L.C.
Great work JM-DG(I can't imagine spending 13+ hours on one image!), and looking forward to seeing what you are going to do with your's akil-x, +'s all round
Tobyb
to sir adbit....he he i wish my draft #1 will be a modern art ha ha ha....it turn out that fast when my adrenalin rush, my subconcious goin loko he he he & thats the effects....looks finish eh....thanX.....really fun....

great scot!! nice work sit tobyb....very realistic smoke effect....can feel, really hot....whew a neck to neck compi.....really fun.....lets rock guys!!

@ tobyb you still have lots of days. So if you want to come back to this picture here are the things I would ameliorate on your picture: (Remember you are allowed to edit 2 times
)

Background: Missing depth in the space background. maybe add some (more glowy/bigger) stars or maybe add a planet.... Add different colors instead of having plain black.
Astronaut: For the lines instead of using (looks like a pen 1 pixel hardness:100%) use a round (standard) brush with 2 pixel hardness to 75%. This will make your lines more soft and less pixely.
Exemple:
before :
after :
For the gloves use a gradient because they seem flat ^^
Drop a little shadow down your guy.
Planet: Work on the shades and texture of your planet. Missing a little bit of 3Dness.
Btw what we see in his mask: Is it the earth blowing up XD
Keep up the good work. By these comments I mean no harm, just helping out.
Thanks for the comments JM-DG, Lots to think about
as I said I'm very new to this style of drawing, I'm used to drawing on paper, where you can adjust tone and colour, just by changing the pressure of your pen, and I've found it difficult getting any depth, so this is the main reason that I think that it looks very flat.
I've made a few changes, and added bits of shading, but I'm going to keep working on it before I post the final result.
I also tried adding a few bolders in the foreground, but it didn't work, they are very difficult to draw
Thanks for the advice on the lines, I decided to use the pencil tool, and I still don't lnow hwy, seems like the most useless tool photoshop has!! I just blurred the lines a bit, so I didn't have to draw the whole thing again, and it seems to have worked out quite well.
Thanks tobyb
Oh and yes, his helmet is showing the reflection of the earth being destoryed
i try like this. whether it is correct or not i do not know!

draft before drawing..
after
i use mainly oil brushes, water colour brushes and pen tool here.
That's a nice'n'big start
minimum picture size:1280*1024 or bigger. Your picture is 1280*960
I would suggest you to add more atmosphere and depth to your scene.
Try to make a focal point. Because for now there is no "point of interest".
What I mean by this is that: it's a beautiful landscape but there is missing a place where we can rest our eye on. :D
Furthermore I'm sorry to say your missed a rule...
Make the corrections
Here is my first edit:

Please Critics and constructive comments

Nice image JM-DG, overall it gives a great impression, it's well coloured, and a great overall composition. There are two things that I would say don't seem right abou the image, primarily her eyes, if you look at them in isolation, she doesn't look very well
The other thing I would mention is that her wings don't seem to come from her back, but look more like they are coming from her side to me.
These are two small things, that in many ways add to the overall composition, but throw your eye off if veiwd closely, hope this helps, it's looking to be a great image so far, tobyb
hey guys he he he this is a contest.....lets put up another post or thread like GFX clinic where we can collaborate correcting each others work or other gfx mems work... just my suggestion only....rock on!!

@ tobyb: My brother did the same comment about her eyes. But I answered him: She looks behind her shoulder and if you look at it that way it seems less weird. But I don't know how to manage them because according to my draft it follows the right angle. I'll try reworking on them.

About the wings: maybe I understand why it gives you this impression. It may miss some shade on the wings, close to her body. I'll give this a shot.
@ akil I don't understand perfectly your idea??
Ho lol I just realized the smily you used tobyb looked like my fairy +/-

yuh bro...what i mean is this contest should be a no comments or correction, otherwise this will be a no contest at all....lets make a separate thread for comments only or gfx CLINIC.....an entry must be our own concept so that we may learn & be flexible for any future compi preparation....a comments in this compi w/c we will follow is not our own idea or concept anymore.....lets make a good guidelines to follow, a competition should be fresh & original idea of the contestant, in this we can see the objective & progress of our members as original as they could.....hope i explained what i mean...
