After releasing it to MSDN and TechNet Plus subscribers, Microsoft has made the Office 2010 beta available for public download. At the Professional Developer's Conference 2009, Microsoft announced the availability of the public beta of Office 2010 along with SharePoint Server, Visio, Project and Office Web Apps.

The new Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta productivity suite has the same ribbon interface and is available in 32-bit as well as 64-bit versions. Apart from new icons, the Office 2010 suite features new Office Communicator 2007 R2 integrated in Outlook 2010. Communicator will allow users to sync their Windows Live and other social networking site feeds in Outlook. Early next year, LinkedIn Feed could be added to Outlook 2010.

To download the Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta, head to the official download page. Then click on the 'Get it now' button (green coloured), which will take you to the download page only after logging in with Windows Live ID. Once signed in, save the MAK key somewhere safe on your system.

Office 2010 public beta is offered in 32-bit (684MB) and 64-bit (750MB) versions. Both packages include tweaked versions of the Office applications - Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Publisher, InfoPath, SharePoint Workspace and Communicator.

Businesses can start testing Office Web Apps, which include editing in Word and OneNote Web Apps. However, the consumer version of the same continues to be in Technology Preview stage in Windows Live and no specific date was announced for the final build release.

Microsoft aims to release Office 2010 final version in first half of next year.
