Your Blue Ray player should be set up like this: If its DNLA compatible, you should use Windows Media Player (or a mediaserver like Mezzmo) > open Windows Media Player > Stream > check "automatically allow devices to play media". Next click "more steaming options" > Name your media library (your name or what you like) > Show devices on All network (not local network) > look for uknown device and allow it. Remember to see if you share your media in network settings (Audio - Video - Pictures...)
If you have a firewall installed use manually configure firewall to let windows communicate with your devices.
I have checked the router and device its listed in attached devices. I am connected as administator with full priv. but everytime i try and change any shareing options in control panel or windows media centre they just go back to prevoius setting when i check back. ( but yes i have tried what you said in windows media player but no unknown devices shown and will not allow me to change network option) any ideas??? please, thank you :-)
