In a week or two we will start to held weekly competition.
We are going to implement a feature to calculate your AstaPower and AstaKarma for the week period and thus we will determine the best Astareleaser of the week.

At the moment I`m planning to give out as a prize a 3 month free access to one of the most popular toll download service.
I`m planning to give prize for 2nd and 3d place too...maybe some accounts on rapidshare or other free hosting.

Feel free what would you like better as a prize here ;)

I know GraveDigger, (and remember someone deleting and altering posts on asta some days ago), I am too not a person like I stated above and I also don't think that way too but I gave you a situation. And what about other suggestions, did they missed your attention friend ;p

prizes can give like TOP TEN...(not ist 2nd &3rd) in different catagery....
like..top ten senior members...
top ten relesers........
top ten most active members..
top ten teams--------------
top ten rankers............
like so.....prise may be anything..
but i think this will grabs most of the members
and everybody will be happy. :)

I'm not sure why so many people have negative attitudes toward this idea. The people who will win the prizes will have to be dedicated to asta. A free premium account alone will not motivate someone to become a top releaser.

I personally see nothing wrong with a competition. Just adds a bit of fun to keep the community alive. I don't think that it will change the family atmosphere of asta.

Democracy doesn't mean don't respect a person's work.Older active members are truly above the others but only in respect as happens in a family too, and if you are not ready to give them their deserved, I will strongly say you are absolutely wrong. as i continue to follow this discussion on the topic of competion that this discussion has become a competion. all the different views and opinions of the ASTA (FAMILY) has come forth to join in. competion is a very healthy and productive means of progression! as stated several times already this is my prize just having the opportunity to sit at this table and be part of a family discussion is reward enough for me. ;D and may i remind those of you who may have forgotten, if it were not for competion we would all probably still be playing ( PONG ) if you dont know what that is ask one of your elders!

I think that IF you are going to hold a competition for most karma for a certain period of time, you should just start it on a date of your choice and not tell anyone. Then you can quietly sit back and watch the normal rating happen, rather than go and give people a - so their own karma may win. I know you said Astatalk is for honest people, but the world is full of dishonesty, and if put in a competitive situation, there WILL be people who will be dishonest to win. Think "Survivor." Granted it's not a million dollar prize, but still, if it comes to winning something, even if it was just a special icon or something next to that person's name here on Astatalk, there will be some who will be underhanded.

@Gravedigger: MAYBE that can be taken into account if who rates who and how they rate are logged. If not, then I would definitely suggest that if you do hold the contest, start it without announcing it. Do it randomly each month or something, but don't make a formal announcement saying "okay the week of xth to the xth will be the contest." Just my 2 cents.

Agreed that is why i mentioned competition to teams only, not individuals....seems fair this way.

I could say: we will count your asta parameters for one week period randomly selected from 2 months :)
so nobody will know when to cheat ;p (but I`m still sure we don`t have such members in fact)

i think instead of -0+ should be 0+ only.
the optimum level of rank should be zero.
because if a member get +5 by good decision
of five members but if he get -5 reversly
by bed decision of 5 members it will be zero.
whther it is justis ? so ranks or marks should be
from 0 to upward. negetive always arises negative
thinking.+0 is better than -anything.+ will
make us friendly in forum but negetive make
us lost the friendly enviroment here.
this is my thinking. may be wrong.

Agreed. Most of the negative ratings that I have seen have been the result of people not knowing how to use the release (ie. cant unrar, don't know what they are doing, ect.)

This is very true. I cannot think of any good reason why someone should - rate someone. if its bad links or a virus in releases or insulting comments, then the mod should be dealing with it and it should be reported, not given a -ve rating.
