GraphicsOther graphicsFileServe no longer

It seems FileServe is not longer allowing file sharing in the traditional way. It went the way of FileSonic in a sense that you can only retrieve files that belong to you.

Seriously, who needs this kind of service when you can get DropBox with so many more options.

Bye bye FileServe, did not like their service anyway.

We in North America will see some changes to file sharing, but my guess is that many of the ones operate in other continents and, presently, not as large or known, will be more of a solution as the US based file sharing sites close shop.

Will be difficult for us to operate in Slovakian, Russian or Chinese though :-)

However, if we go back in history when Napster was closed down, the reaction of the programmer community was so fierce that it paved the way to the torrents and file sharing capabilities that we have today. Compare to what we have now, Napster is an equivalent of 10th century Europe technology.

There are other better solution to share information on the net. Networking through proxies is done already now but in limited way and it will slowly become the way to go.

Maybe the US government will completely block all access to file sharing in the US and isolate American citizens from vast Internet activities. I will not be surprised it that happens. Lobbyists do not have the public interest in mind. Their job is to make their bosses very very rich.

Anyway, speaking to colleagues in Central Europe, file sharing there is very much alive and kicking. Even in France where draconian laws were created to fight file sharing, the public reacted by increasing file sharing by 400% in one day. The message people sent to their elected people is that the NET is a free space and no one should be allowed to control it.

Unfortunately, in the US, the public is very much afraid of the consequences and prefers not to make too much of a statement. It's a testament of how freedom is slowly deteriorating in the part of the World that calls itself the "Leader of the free World".

Try PANDO, it works great with no middle man/woman/site.
