What material should be tagged as "Anime"?
It was my impression that Anime only referred to japanese animated films and series. A slightly looser definition also includes "Japanese-like animation".
I'm asking this because someone posted Bolt as an Anime, which although animated doesn't really fall under anime. Disney made it and it shares non of the anime style, hence a cartoon.
What do other people think about this?

However, anime is understood as Japanese annimation that is characterized by fine drawing resembling that of Manga; big heads, big eyes(as i observed), and fine edge artistic style of presenting itself.
Honestly this is broad to discuss,.
when simply look different both cartoon what english word and anime japanese sound word there a big different specially they hand art.
most time anime, got attention of teenager interest like bleach, naruto, one piece prefer cartoon...mickey mouse
There are certain exceptions to the rule. Transformers, for example, was made by the Japanese but for an American audience (piloted by American moguls), so it would probably be classified as a cartoon. Golion was an anime later butchered by Americans, thus creating Voltron. Both are probably classified as anime, regardless (because they were originally intended for Japanese audiences.)
Hayao Miyazaki's work is mainly distributed by Disney, but it isn't Disney produced; thus, it is still anime in the purest sense of the word. Oban Star Racers was a joint Japanese-French venture, and hell you can label it however you want.
