A Guide to New Asta

Release , Requests and Threads:

In new asta you can see these three terms. Here is the difference between them.

Release is a pointer to some piece of information in the internet. It may contain description, pictures and hidden block with link(s).

Request is a request to point the location of some information. Request may contain only description — without photo and hidden link(s).

Thread is a usual discussion. Thread doesn`t have hidden block and photo.

So, Do not post software in under 'Threads'. Post them as releases. Threads are for discussion purpose.

Also Please read the FAQs.

Tags and Sub forum:

Tag is a section with Releases, Requests and Threads. Tag unites Releases, Requests and Threads with similar features. Some Release, Request or Thread may be at the same time in several Tags.
For example: Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 Release may settled down in Other OS applications and ISO.

Sub forum is a section designed only for discussions. Subforum may contain only Threads.

5. Now add 'Tags' to your post. You can select a maximum of 5 tags but that does not mean you should always tick 5 tags rather tick only that tag which is necessary and quite appropriate, does not matter if it is only one tag. Please be specific while selecting a tag. Select appropriate tags for your release.

You can also link your release with the request in same manner. Any user can create a relation.

This provides much easier navigation.

How to search ?

The search feature in new asta fast and simple.

You can search for a release or a request or a thread or all by using appropriate keyword. You can also search in forum. Just click on the corresponding tabs, type the keyword and search!

By default your keyword is searched in 'All' release/request/thread. You can also be specific by searching where you want. The results are displayed in a neat manner, titled with 'Release/Request/Thread'.

You can also be more specific by selecting which category you want to search.

You also have an option of searching keywords and within description.

As a general rule, search before posting anything.

Using Report Function:

There is a small exclamation mark in every release, request, thread, and comment. If you notice the post is not alright in any means, report it.
