i have an acer aspire 5560 laptop. currently the cd/dvd driver is missing from the device manager list. it couldn't read any disc at all not even bootable windows xp cd. when i insert the cd, it will make a faint sound like it's trying to read the cd, but it fade out after a while. i have tried option such as deleting the LowerFilter & UpperFilters in regedit, but none works. i really don't know what to do anymore. pls help

hardware failure.........repair it to acer vendor.........

do u mean drive or driver? do u see on BIOS, Does DVD is detected or not?
