How to Enable or Disable Automatic Defragmentation in Windows.
1. Click 'Start'.
2. Click 'Run'
3. Type 'Regedit' then press 'OK'.
4. Go to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Dfrg\BootOptimizeFunction\'
5. Look on right hand side and see if 'Enable' is already there. If yes go to step 6.
If not, then create 'Enable' Registry as follows :
# Right click on the right hand side of your 'Registry Editor'.
# Select New and then select 'String Value' and name it 'Enable'.
6. Double click 'Enable' and in Value Data put N if you want Auto Defragmentation disabled Or put Y if you want Auto Defragmentation Enabled..
.
7. Now Exit the Registry Editor and Reboot.
