20 Oct 2009, 11:54

Hi all,

Not sure where the best place for this was, so i apologise if its in the wrong place ;(

Ive just bought a new laptop that has Vista basic on it. My old one had XP and im wondering what the best option is? Should i downgrade back to XP? Or should i upgrade the Vista programme??

Any advice or hints gratefully recieved!! :)

please mention the configuration of your new laptop.

like: total size of installed RAM, which processor?

vista is better than XP and windows7 is best.

Ok, config i can find is:

Celeron Dual Core CPU T3000 @ 1.80GHz 1.79GHz
Memory (RAM) 2.00GB
32 Bit OS
BOOT (C) 278 GB

Ive been thinking about Windows 7. Ive looked at the downloads in here for it, but i have to admit to being completely at a loss at how to do it.

If someone has the time and patience to give me a Dummies How To Guide on it, i would be very VERY grateful!!! *crosses fingers*

you need winrar and an iso program if you dont have them here are some links

Please login or register to download
or
Download here directly at 100Mbit

next youll need windows 7

now youll use winrar to open the files you download so install winrar first if you dont already have it. next download and install poweriso or any other iso program you want if you dont already have it. download the windows7 you want i like the ultimate version make sure you get x86 (32bit) or x64 (64bit) the correct bit for your motherboard if unsure try clicking start then right clicking computer then click properties it should tell you if in doubt go with x86(32 bit). i would suggest using the mediafire link for the windows download as its probably going to be faster. next download the activator which should come with a readme.txt instructions but all you have to do is extract it to your desktop with winrar and then right click run as administrator and let it do the rest automatically. back to the windows once it is downloaded and its in many rar files just double click part1.rar and it will extract all the files for you you should be left with an iso that hopefully should open automatically in poweriso if not just double click the iso file it will be a golden disc icon once open in poweriso click burn then go to burning speed and with the drop down menu click on 4x (600 kb/s)then click burn at the bottom. once complete do a clean install then use the activator as directed. to see if your activation was successfull go to start then run and type slmgr.vbs -dlv in the "Run.." window and when resultant window comes see if there written "Licensed" after status toward the bottom without any date then your win7 is activated. if you need instructions on how to do a clean install just ask hope this helps
