Thank you for the response. After restarting the start bar & icons are still missing along with no right click on the desktop. I also notice when I try running explorer.exe, it tells me my access is denied. If I am right, this is what starts up the taskbar.

Here's my log. Still no taskbar, icons on desktop or right click. A lot of the programs are still locked up and I receive this message:

"windows cannot access the specified device path or file. you may not have appropriate permissions"

This includes when trying to execute the explorer.exe.

Is there any way of replacing this file with a new one? I do not have the boot up disks or system restore thanks to this virus.

Are you able to launch the registry editor by going throughCtrl+Alt+Del-->File-->New task-->regedit.exe
If yes, then go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
and modify the value of shell key to explorer.exe and restart the PC. Also you may try doing this in safe mode if it is not being possible in normal mode.

I'm not sure but older AV (AVG did a trick, did AVG found any threat before installing KIS. if possible open regedit and search for AVG then delete each and every entry it had made. before doin' anything make sure u backup the registry.

let me know do u make change on msconfig before uninstalling the AVG, if disabling startup files and under msconfig and unintall the applicataion that doesn't completely removed and some issued lefteover so it might be culprit.

see on msconfig if AVG startup leftover...there is no log under hijackthis.

I strongly recommended "nawt" to uninstall IObit security tool then download malwarebyte anti malware install it, update then update Antivirus. login to safemode full scan with MBAM and antivirus.
then login to normal mode run a hijackthis and post a new log with system condition.
