General TalksSoftware and Hardware Discussionhelp w JDownloader installation

Hi
I wanted to try JDownloader 0.87
I started to install it (windows vista) and right away a window opened
from windows defender explaining that defender wanted to block the incoming traffic
for this port and not leave it "open". It also said that it would be better
to make a exception for a program and not just leave a port "open".

This makes sense to me, however I was only offered either block or unblock traffic
for the port. I just stopped the install for now until I get clarification. I was wondering then, why I have not ran across this scenario before with other programs??

what is the best choice?? I know a lot of you guys are using this program so
what have you all done?? leave the port open?? how do you keep traffic from
other places/unwanted places from coming in/finding this port?
Additionally, Maybe someone could give me a link where this is talked about.
HELP
thanks. Kim from ohio
