m2r3 : m/m reads, reviews and recommendations!Getting a regular book club going here...

26 Mar 2010, 01:35

So, one of the centerpieces of this group, I hope, will be regular reads and reviews. Reading with someone is fun, and it would be great if we could choose a book every once a while and share our thoughts on it. So what do you guys think would be the best way to go about it? You tell us - what is your schedule like, how many days you would need to read , etc... Should we have a book a week, 3 books a week, a book ever 3 days, multiple genres? How do we finalize on the book(s) each time? Post away!

Well, I read at least 3 or 4 books a week but I read a lot. I think it woul be good to have more than one book going at a time so we can encompass different genres because not everyone reads all genres. For instance, I tend to stay away from historical or fantasy gay fiction. That way everyone would be able to choose what book they want to read an still feel included.

I read about 1 book per day,or sometimes 2 books/day. it's good to have more than 1 book recommended at least for the sake of diversity, and it will be easier for the beginners to have a variety of books to choose from, and not scare them away :DDD

for instance, i'm not into m/m/m/+, and i'll gladly grab any other book .
cheers arrchr!!! good idea with the book club ;)

I agree. I think it should have more than one book recommended so we can have a variety of books. Also, I usually read one book per day, sometimes two depending how much time I have and the size of the book, so I would´ve finish the book pretty quickly.

I am like Kikyo and gabel, I read a 1 or 2 of books a day. I have insomnia and it sure helps to read when I have to be quiet.
I think a few different genres at one time would work. I don't like heavy bdsm books or books that have angels and demons hooking up. It just creeps me out. Not a huge fan of historical either to be honest.
I do like a wide variety though, coming of age as well as fantasy, mix in a good old fashioned romance, werewolf or vampire every once in a while and I am happy. I do tend to read series back to back and will wait on reading a series if it is only a book or 2 into it. I keep them in a to be read folder when there are more available.

Well I'm back after a few days away from the net (withdrawal sucks)... It seems like multiple books are the way to go. Also, we better get this started right away, I think I'll pick a couple of books from the new releases on Asta and take it from there...

It depends on the book, actually. For novella, I can read 1 - 2 books a day. But for full length novel, I might need 2 days at least. I avoid historical, if I can :). I prefer contemporary or futuristic. I also LOVE urban fantasy (vampires, shifters) and plain ol' murder mystery. One thing that is usually a big no, no for me is M/M/F or anything that involves menage.
