Avira Antivir Rescue CD
What is this ?
You can try this CD, when your system doesn't boot due to some viruses.

Avira AntiVir Rescue System is a Linux-based application that allows accessing computers that cannot be booted anymore. Thus it is possible to:
* repair a damaged system,
* rescue data,
* scan the system for virus infections.
Just double-click on the rescue system package to burn it to a CD/DVD. You can then use this CD/DVD to boot your computer.
The Avira AntiVir Rescue System is updated several times a day so that the most recent security updates are always available. |
Download from here:

How to use it ?
1. Burn the downloaded image into a CD. Boot from the CD. Look here for more information.
http://www.astatalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=151426
2. Once loaded the GUI will look like this. Click on the flag at the bottom to change your language.
3. Next configure the "Action on malware Discovery" as shown. Under scan mode always choose "Scan all files" option.
4. Next click on the "Start scanner" and wait patiently.
5. After completing the scan, you can look for the log file for actions done by avira.
If Avira could not repair a file, it renames it with .XXX extension.
6. There is also a command line option available for experts. Once you have done with it, click on shutdown.
