I'm using BitDefender10 for 2 days... They seem very good, a little lighter than Norton, but every 10minutes there are 2 seconds in which my activities on internet stop. For example, if i'm using a browser and want to click on something then i have to wait for 2 secs... :?:
when bitdefender are not working this doesn't happen....
Norton was a good and easy solution, but it's one of the worst for your speed.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't there an antivirus called anti-vir? I think i had something like that in another pc. It was for free. The lighter i had used

Hey what happened to avast? Or is it no good? didn't make the list lol
I use avast, have had no dramas with it....boot scan good feature virus free so far not knocking the other progs (except for Norton, got a bad virus while using it a while back, lol) Damn that means I can't vote lol
Ps Avast allows you to abort your d/l or connection as it's downloading (before it finishes) scanning while it's d/ling not when it finishes...I use avast in combination with spyware doctor and spystopper pro...I must say been clean sailing till now, very very happy

The 3 anti-virus which i recommend n do not hav many problems r Bit-Defender,Kaspersky n Mcafee. They worked fine for me over the years when i tested them. The one i really hate is Norton Antivirus,it slows the pc like hell n even if u uninstall it,the reg keys r hard to remove leaving a bucket load of waste for ur pc.The only thing I noticed is that they update their virus definitions containing cleaning instructions immediately
a new virus is found.could it be a business strategy of making the software popular by making solutions for the viruses they made themselves?maybe....

The worst experience i ever had with any antivirus was with Macafee 9, i First time ever found a antivirus which itself was effected with viruses
Talking about Norton Antivirus 2006 ~ It runs normal with 667 Mhz Processor and 256MB RAM but not less than that ~ i had to remove it when i was left with 128 MB RAM.
it really irritate norton users when it gives u messege "access is denied so no action could be taken on infected file"
but other than that i found NORTON ANTIVIRUS 2006 working best on 1700MHZ and 512MB RAM notebook pc and its working excellent and maintaning my system without any virus.
AVG is best for being light weight and still maintaining your system away from almost all threats..
so my vote goes to..
 Norton Antivirus Or
 AVG
----> in combination with...
 Windows Defender

 NEWBIES...
The AV that i use is F-SECURE
This SWEDISH guys are in the market from to long...experienced
Mcafee WOULD be a GOOD choice because some years ago, they bought the team of the famous "Dr Solomon's Toolkit", but the AV GONE???
I think, and i have writed that if Mr Gates wants REVENGE from SYMANTEC , he would buy This AV, ( the team of course  ) , and create the best AV ever maded, because the Empire has the hability to develop this kind of programs...
GETTING Linux wouldn't DO NOTHING , because once i had a problem in my network, and i didn't know the reason of the problem...I've found out that a brother's computer using LINUX , was letting a LEGION OF VIRUS entering in the network, so for me LINUX SUCKS!
NORTON LOL, once in my University time some years ago, a virus called " BIG BEAR" had entered in the Faculty and they had to format at least 100's computers...at the hand of reinstaling and configurating, they turned on the primary SERVER and...the server was INFECTED also , and they had 2 format all the computers again...I've joke at that time with them because there where then some patch that CLENED the virus, but they didn't listen
Kapersky, the best??? Peut etre, but i don't trust a enterprise with the reputation of beeing connected to BLACK HATS and SCRIPT KIDDIES...

I guess, NOD32 is best but the problem is it can't treat virus infected files, one has to see action. Otherwise, it is good
