AMD is the choice.
the technology whoch intel recently introduced is used by AMD long back. Even AMD's dual core processors are better than Intel's quad core processors. |

| i bought a new comp its intel dual core and i like it its very fast :P friend has amd but if u r not a gamer intel is a great choice |

Intel is definitely better, but have you seen the prices??
The best intel CPU is the QX9770 (soon to be replaced by Nehalem) which is $1,450!!!!! (3.2GHz stock)
The best amd CPU is the Phenom X4 9950, which comes at 2.6GHz and is about $180.
The difference between the two isn't worth all that.
AMD FTW!
But Intel FTW in overclocking though |

i vote for intel because of their Intel i7 extreme w/c has a whooping 8 cores and an 8mb cache =)  |

Intel, its never reached above 70% usage so far 
Vmware + photoshop + game running at the same time got it up to 60% |

| I personally have been subject to both of these and I actually got rid of a desktop that had intel and got one with an amd...then again I game....I feel that amd has it over intel when it comes to gaming hands down... |
