There really are plenty of tutorials, but in general terms?
You're going to want to make your design on the computer in whatever program you like, and then print it out- whatever size you want your stencil to be.
You probably don't need a really high dpi, since you're only going to be using it as a, well, stencil.
Cut all the pieces out from the paper, and save a copy for reference and positioning, if it isn't all going to be connected.
Take a sharpie (you don't want to eyeball it) and trace all your pieces onto plastic (it doesn't really matter what you use, but you don't want it so thin that it's floppy, or so thick that you can't cut it with an exact-o blade)
If you want it reverse, just be careful to cut the pieces out of the plastic together, and cover the rest of the shirt with something like plastic wrap, if you're going to be spray printing.
It's pretty simple =)
As for designing, keep it clean and simple, obviously, and something like Illustrator or Corel Draw is going to be easier for that than Photoshop.
Hope that helped! |
