I mostly agree.
I hate the big crosses that appear on any of your toolbars. If we can right-click the toolbar and untick an option, why do we need those distracting Xs? Also, for some reason or another, if I am writing into a text box and the text goes further down than the text box (so that the scroll has to be used), it chooses to randomly scroll up and down the text box while I'm typing. Going to have to stop this post here so that it doesn't do it again. |

I use IE. After my modifications, I think it is running nice! Don't get me wrong, I make it a point to learn about Firefox too:
http://www.astatalk.com/viewtopic.php?t=270665
But there are just somethings that can't be done in Firefox ... and vice versa. But I digress... really, what is important, is...
Using IE in protected mode, with Vista SP1, and NIS 2009, and various other protection methods (in the settings and otherwise), I feel quite safe. Scripts, ads, popups ... gone. As well as all the other nasties.
Also, I find the browser fast. I have used several developer tools to check for memory leaks. Everything appears good. And my bowser is running top notch... Page load speeds are normal. Here's some tweaks I've done:

I think this rhetoric comes from a sub-par computer.
Has allben91 updated the hardware in over 3 years?
If you are just talking about looks ... they are the same since IE6 ... and there are always skins... Just like Firefox.
In the end, it comes down to preference. If you just don't perfer it, please don't talk bad about it.
The biggest negative I find is that IE8 is not open source. Everything for IE has to go through Microsoft ... Much like Apple.
But, good news. It's free. My rant is done.
In the end, the browser wars benefit us all - the end user. Choose as you wish.
It is the freedom to choose that makes me happy. If I did not have a choice, I would be sad. |

Aghh, I followed all the steps in Klean's tutorial and still not much difference.
Guess I just have a weird PC. |

@ Dack, what red crosses are you talking about? I'm typing from IE8 now and it seems fine, except everything in tables is centered
No random scrolling issues either, my pc is so boring
(And yes I did copy/paste untill the scrollbar kicked in)
My comparison:
