I've used many Anti-viruses and the best one by far is Zone Labs Security Suite. I mean the Anti-virus tool, not the firewall. It is really easy to use and extremely powerful. Make sure that you dont get the firewall by accident and make sure you uninstall Norton AV completely (the makers of Norton provide a free tool to do this on their website.)

I have Norton, I find it is slow when scanning certain files and it is slow on start up but other than that it is good. I no that there are better Anti-Virus programs out there but I actually paid for this so I am not going to go ahead and steal another while I steal have a good legitamite copy here

Antivirus Top 10
Interesting that two of the most commonly used AV products, Norton and McAfee didn't eve make the top 10 in this test and that the free AOL product made it to #2 - being free, that might easily take it to #1 for most.
Having "switched" to Mac a while back, it is honestly a bit odd to look at these things now. The bloat, updates, annual renewal fees and friendly reminders that "your viri def subscription is about to expire, please pay up" are far from missed.
I'm not trying to convert anyone - in fact, I'm sort of glad everyone still uses their PCs though, it's good for keeping the Mac a minority interest and in a way our INBOX events benefit from their use so I can't complain really. And don't think I can't rant on bs issues w/ my transition to mac either, but this A/V thing is one skeleton you don't realize is gone from the closet until you've lived without it for 6 months.
Thing is, AV has practically become a branch of the OS given how extensive the hacks have become, jacking with MBRs, and so on. In other words, there are so many hooks to system calls in so many places to plug a zillion holes and oppty's for exploits that it's hard for the AV software to avoid massive bloat and risk to corrupting files within the system and coexisting in a healthy environment. By simply altering hooks, having them at all, establishing and updating them on a regular basis and changing all of these different branched hooks, it's truly an extensive patchwork. One faulty hook or glitch in the AV software or bad update and the extent of the fault from what is meant to protect you becomes your liability. One has to wonder in relative terms how many crashes/year are the result of AV faults, an incomplete patch or buggy update glitch. ok, on to the results...
/snip
The test was made on 15-25 August 2006, using Windows XP Professional SP1 on a P4 2800 Mhz, 512MB DDRAM. * All programs tested had the latest versions, upgrades and updates and they were tested using their full scanning capabilities e.g. heuristics, full scan etc. The default settings of each program were not used, in order for each program to achieve its maximum detection rate.
Rank
1. Kaspersky version 6.0.0.303 - 99.62%

4. BitDefender Professional version 9 - 96.63%
5. CyberScrub version 1.0 - 95.98%
6. eScan version 8.0.671.1 - 95.82%
7. BitDefender freeware version 8.0.202 - 95.57%
8. BullGuard version 6.1 - 95.57%

Why isn't Avast! antivirus Home Edition/Professional Edition on the list?
Avast! Antivirus doesn't slow the computer dramatically, i can't see any difference.

The AV that i use is F-SECURE
This SWEDISH guys are in the market from to long...experienced
Mcafee WOULD be a GOOD choice because some years ago, they bought the team of the famous "Dr Solomon's Toolkit", but the AV GONE???
I think, and i have writed that if Mr Gates wants REVENGE from SYMANTEC , he would buy This AV, ( the team of course  ) , and create the best AV ever maded, because the Empire has the hability to develop this kind of programs...
GETTING Linux wouldn't DO NOTHING , because once i had a problem in my network, and i didn't know the reason of the problem...I've found out that a brother's computer using LINUX , was letting a LEGION OF VIRUS entering in the network, so for me LINUX SUCKS!
NORTON LOL, once in my University time some years ago, a virus called " BIG BEAR" had entered in the Faculty and they had to format at least 100's computers...at the hand of reinstaling and configurating, they turned on the primary SERVER and...the server was INFECTED also , and they had 2 format all the computers again...I've joke at that time with them because there where then some patch that CLENED the virus, but they didn't listen
Kapersky, the best??? Peut etre, but i don't trust a enterprise with the reputation of beeing connected to BLACK HATS and SCRIPT KIDDIES...
so i stick to my "old" F-SECURE...
You are the newbie!!! F-secure sucks!!!! Is too basic!!! And nobody use them, just you of course!
